Hello! My name’s Natalie and I’m a qualified equine massage therapist. It’s my mission to help horses feel comfortable and able to happily do whatever it is we ask of them.
I first learnt about equine massage therapy when I was a working student at a horse behavioural centre. I was informed by the owners that the osteopath would be out the next day. I was surprised and grateful that they were getting us all free massages… and was rather shocked and disappointed when I found out that the osteopath was for the horses. I had never heard of a horse getting a massage before and it opened up my eyes to the realisation that sometimes, a horse’s unwanted behaviour isn’t because it’s “being naughty” or “showing who’s boss” but sometimes it can be because they are in pain.
Since learning about the field and watching the positive effects the osteopath had on the horse’s wellbeing, I decided that this is what I want to do. I’ve spent the last 2 years completing my certificate as an equine sports massage therapist and have only become more passionate over time.
I have been active in the horse community for just over 10 years now. I’m a member of a Pony Club and used to compete in Mounted Games, though mostly I’m a bit of an all-rounder. I have a horse named Wobbles (Smokey) who is nicknamed that due to his confusion when changing directions.
